about me
Hi. I'm Alan Todd. I have over 21 years experience as a designer, for print and digital media.
Delivering solid work across a wide range of departments and publications for Newsquest Scotland — including The Herald, Glasgow Times, and The Scottish Farmer.
My job is straightforward: I take a rough idea and build it into a striking piece of design that makes sense.
Over two decades, I've grown my trade from traditional print layout into video, motion, and animation. No fuss, honest communication, and getting the job done right the first time.

Before you ask — here’s what most people want to know.
Brand identities, editorial layouts, subscription and promotional campaigns, out-of-home, digital display, and motion graphics or short video — for publishers, brands and local businesses.
I start by understanding the job — your audience, history and competition. Then I test a wide range of ideas, craft and refine the strongest one, and finish it properly with organised, documented files.
A rough idea is enough. Share the brief, who it’s for, your deadline and any brand assets you already have, and I’ll take it from there.
21 years of newspaper deadlines. I work fast without cutting corners, communicate honestly, and aim to get the job done right the first time.
Yes — get in touch and I’ll send a fuller portfolio tailored to the kind of project you have in mind.
Still have questions?
Feel free to get in touch — I’ll gladly clarify the details and help you decide if this is the right fit for your project.
